Full Job Description: Assistant Youth Instructor

  • Job Title: Assistant Youth Instructor

  • Pay rate: $19 per hour


  • Assist in the supervision and leading of groups of children ages 6-17.
  • Coordinate with Lead and co-instructors to plan and implement activities for club/camp duration based upon BRC curriculum and standards.
  • Ensure participant compliance with gym rules/policy and mitigation of risk during programs.
  • Teach climbing skills such as top rope belaying, bouldering falls/etiquette, and basic climbing technique to youth aged 6-17 based upon BRC curriculum and standards under the supervision of a Lead Youth Instructor.
  • Coordinate with the Lead Youth Instructor to address all behavioral concerns or incidents in accordance with BRC Behavior Management Plan/Policies.
  • Communicate with the Lead Youth Instructor regarding expectations, progress, and behavior/risk management issues.
  • Top Rope Belay participants during programs


  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • Prior experience working with children ages 6-17.
  • Top Rope Belay certified at BRC.
  • Ability to work with and co-lead groups of children ages 6-17.
  • Ability to work, communicate, and collaborate with other instructors.
  • Understanding of basic climbing techniques and technical systems.
  • Group management skills for groups of 4-15+ participants.
  • Pass a Background Check and CO Mandatory Reporter Training Course.
  • Can stand on feet for long durations (1 hour +) on uneven surfaces.
  • Can lift and hold 20 lbs above your head.
  • Availability and commitment to work at minimum 50% of club/camp sessions assigned.
