Kid Policies
The Boulder Rock Club is a climbing gym; safety is our number one concern. We appreciate your business and thank you in advance for following these policies.
First Timers (using auto belays)
- Children under 12 years old must be under direct supervision by an adult at all times, within arm’s reach when the child is not climbing
- A ratio of 3:1 (3 kids to 1 adults) must be kept at all times
- No groups of children larger than 6 without a reservation (group rates available)

Belay Rules for Kids (11 and under)
- Must take his or her belay test from a manager
- Require adult supervision when climbing, using the auto belays or bouldering, even if he or she passes a belay test
- Can top rope belay (must be accompanied by an adult that has passed their top rope belay test)
- Can lead (with adult supervision if the adult has passed the BRC lead belay and lead climb tests) if he or she passes all belay tests from a manager
Additional Gym Rules for Minors
- No running
- Do not climb or stand under another climber
- No swinging or playing with ropes
- No yelling or screaming
- No horse play
- Be considerate of other climbers
- No one under 18 allowed on cardio equipment
- No one under 15 allowed in the weight room
- All climbers must follow the BRC’s Rules and Belay Policies (see front desk)
- Share the ropes and auto belays
Breech of rules will be viewed as a safety infraction and may result in revocation of climbing privileges
